It’s a green world

Here’s a look at the great green screen we’ve just put up in the studio. We shot some fairies on it for Marcaroni and the key was really good. (Mid-shots so didn’t need floor painting that day). The studio is available to hire by the way…it’s a really flexible space. Decent Size – 2000 sq ft. Blacks all the way around. Lighting rig. And now Green Screen! We’re adding to it as we go.

Good for TV/Video production of course. Stills photography too. Events.

Another nomination!

Another day, another nomination…a fifth for Y Diwrnod Mawr. This time the programme’s been nominated for a Welsh Bafta. It’s great to be nominated amongst your peers at home! The competition is no less stiff though – this time we’re up against The Sarah Jane Adventures and a great programme about a little boy whos dad’s in prison. So once again – pleased with the nomination and chuffed to be in good company.

At the moment – I’m editing like it’s going out of fashion! Y Diwrnod Mawr/2 hits the screen on April 25 on S4C’s Cyw – so get ready to meet in the first few weeks Eben, Elan, Marek, Sara Mai and Dylan. More about the other 20 children again.

We’re also looking forward to introducing our brand new hero – Marcaroni – on Cyw on S4C on April 27th. Look out for some pictures here very soon – and some great music composed by the brilliant Caryl Parry Jones and Christian Phillips!

Brand New Showreel!

Have had great fun with a new showreel – cut by Gav Cox! Here are some of our children’s programmes – Marcaroni (our brand new music show), Y Diwrnod Mawr (nominated for four awards in the last six months), Baaas (which was our unique co-production with Al Jazeera Children’s Channel), Imagination Station and others! Hope you like it.

In The Frame!

The certificate that proves our nomination for Children’s Programme in the RTS Awards is now in its frame and destined for the wall in the meeting room in our Rizla House office.

The gong as you may well know went to “Horrible Histories” with it’s brilliant scripting, great acting and recognition that children love knowing things.

It was great to be in the same category as HH and Something Special!

All the 26 children in “Y Diwrnod Mawr” are very special too. We’re currently working with another 26 of them for series 2. They’re equally brilliant and getting up to all sorts of things on their big days – ranging from Freya selling handmade jewellery in Abergavenny market to Eben organising (single-handed which isn’t bad for a six year old) a coffee morning to raise money for the children’s ward where he was treated when he got a sewing needle in his knee. We also go with Marek to visit his maternal grandparents in Poland and see the Wales v Scotland rugby match from the perspective of Dylan who has a foot in both camps as it were. This and much more will air on S4C from April 25th.

At the same time, from April 26th, “Marcaroni” will hit the screen. More about this soon!

Brand New Website

We are pleased to announce the launch of our rather lovely new website. Cediog is in fact two companies; Ceidiog Hughes (PR) and Nia Ceidiog (TV) are brother and sister – and that’s how the companies work too. Keep checking back for news on our productions.

We got the name Ceidiog from a river which flows through a village called Llandrillo in North Wales. It’s a family name.
