A bakery has been honoured by Britain\u2019s biggest supermarket chain for its ground-breaking work in developing new products.<\/p>\n
The Jones Village Bakery in Wrexham has received an award for \u201cOutstanding Innovation and Quality\u201d from Tesco for a raft of new bakery products being sold on their shelves across the UK.<\/p>\n
The bakery has also launched a new range of sourdough bread which featured in a major TV advertising campaign by the retail giant.<\/p>\n
According to Village Bakery CEO Robin Jones, the success of the products was down to the skill and dedication of the company\u2019s commercial and New Product Development (NPD) teams.<\/p>\n
It was also, he said, a reward for investing in a state-of-the-art NPD kitchen where all new products are created, refined and perfected.<\/p>\n
Mr Jones said: \u201cWe\u2019ve done an awful lot of work for Tesco in the last 12 months and it\u2019s nice to be recognised for all that hard work.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne thing that I\u2019m really proud of is that everything that we\u2019ve delivered to Tesco has been a real commercial success, so they\u2019re over the moon with it and so are we. The volumes are amazing.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve always set our stall out on innovation and great new products is the life blood of our business.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s what\u2019s helped us grow and it\u2019s great to be recognised by the UK\u2019s largest retailer.\u201d<\/p>\n
Glen Commercial Controller Glen Marriott paid tribute to the contribution of the NPD team.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cFor everyone we supply, the team are always looking at what the trends are and what the next big product will be.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe secret is that we make excellent products again and again. The guys in the NPD kitchen and our brilliant bakers are the ones who do all the hard work.<\/p>\n
\u201cQuality is at the heart of everything we do. We\u2019re very proud and very pleased with all the work that\u2019s gone in to all the products that they\u2019ve launched with Tesco this year.\u201d<\/p>\n
It was a message echoed by Commercial Director Lesley Arnot who said: \u201cI think it\u2019s fantastic for you NPD team to be recognised for the quality and innovation that they deliver for all of our customers every day and it\u2019s just outstanding for them to have this recognition.<\/p>\n
