Voluntary groups across Wrexham are set for a \u00a3300,000 boost to transform local communities.<\/p>\n
The Wrexham Prosperous Communities Fund, managed by regeneration agency Cadwyn Clwyd and AVOW \u2013 the Association of Voluntary Organisations in Wrexham \u2013 has already provided half a million pounds for local projects.<\/p>\n
Now a second helping has just been secured and applications for a share of the fund have to be in by Thursday, June 26.<\/p>\n
A total of 28 community groups and organisations from across the county borough took advantage of Stage One of the Fund, and Stage Two takes the total for the county to a total of \u00a3800,000, part of a wider suite of projects managed by Wrexham County Borough Council and funded from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.<\/p>\n
Grants from the first phase of funding ranged from a \u00a338,000 Toddler Play Area in Rossett and \u00a347,000 towards the Plas Kynaston sports facility in Cefn Mawr to \u00a36,000 for a Nordic Walking group in Erddig and \u00a37,600 towards the Mindful Meadow in Chirk.<\/p>\n
Cadwyn Clwyd Community Enterprise Manager Helen Williams said: \u201cThere was a fantastic response to the first phase of the funding so we are delighted to be able to offer local communities a second chance to apply.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere were so many really positive proposals for projects to benefit local communities across Wrexham first time round and we\u2019re sure that this second opportunity will see a similar response.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere will be grants of up to \u00a350,000 Revenue and \u00a335,000 Capital for a wide range of projects from voluntary and community groups, community councils, charities, social enterprises and co-operatives.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo if you want to renovate your village hall or sports facilities, develop green spaces and gardens, arts or crafts projects or even start a local renewable energy generation scheme just pick up the phone.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe first phase proved hugely popular and was massively over-subscribed which shows the need and the effectiveness of this kind of community support for local people to build resilience in communities across Wrexham Borough.\u201d<\/p>\n
Working alongside Cadwyn Clwyd\u2019s Helen Williams to administer the scheme is Jo Young, Funding and Grants Officer at AVOW, who said: \u201cThe first phase was extremely popular with excellent outcomes for communities throughout Wrexham County Borough and we\u2019re delighted to have a second helping available.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis provides another chance for local groups to take advantage of this funding to transform and enhance their services and environments and provide modern and imaginative facilities for their communities.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis time it is a short window for the scheme and applicants will have to be ready to go with their projects because they only have until January 31 to complete them.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf they have any queries they can pick up the phone and contact Helen or me because our role is to help them through the process and support community groups to deliver their projects.\u201d<\/p>\n
The first phase of the Community Key Fund saw 28 projects across Wrexham County Borough receiving grants for a wide range of projects from the UK Government \u2019Shared Prosperity Fund which received an extra \u00a3900 million in the Autumn Budget for local investment by March 2026.<\/p>\n
