A growing lettings agency is about to open a new office in Rhyl.<\/p>\n
Elwy Lettings’ premises in Bodfor Street are undergoing a major refurbishment in readiness for the launch in early November.<\/p>\n
The company operates across the counties of Flintshire, Denbighshire and Conwy.<\/p>\n
It already has an office in Denbigh and has plans to open another branch in Conwy within the next 18 months.<\/p>\n
The expansion has been made possible thanks to the help and guidance of Business Wales and Denbighshire County Council, together with a Local Investment Fund grant that’s funded 40 per cent of the office revamp.<\/p>\n
Managing director Angela Jones, a former Army Lance Corporal, became an estate agent 14 years ago, joined Elwy Estates four years ago and bought the lettings side of the firm two years ago.<\/p>\n
Angela said: “Opening the new office in Rhyl is incredibly exciting because we’re coming back to the roots of Elwy Lettings.<\/p>\n
“The company was actually established just around the corner in Elwy Street and then moved to these exact premises in Bodfor Street so we\u2019re actually coming back to where Elwy Estates was before.<\/p>\n
“The new office is going to be a launch pad for the next phase of our expansion programme.<\/p>\n
“We\u2019ve been in Denbigh now for 18 months and we have had a phenomenal response there.<\/p>\n
“As we already manage a lot of properties in Rhyl, it makes absolute sense for us to have a town centre presence here, providing a hub for tenants and landlords in order for them to be able to come in and have a chat if they need to.”<\/p>\n
Angela will be taking on two new members of staff to cope with the extra workload with the help of the Welsh Government’s Jobs Growth Wales scheme.<\/p>\n
The firm specialises in social housing and works closely with local councils but also deals with privately owned properties, including detached bungalow, barn conversions and flats.<\/p>\n
Angela added: “Business is very good because the letting market is buoyant at the moment, really buoyant.<\/p>\n
“The affordability to buy isn\u2019t there just yet for people with the deposits that are needed but it does give landlords the security of knowing that they\u2019ve got properties and they are going to be let.<\/p>\n
“I know house sales are rising at the moment but lettings are going to be in demand for a number of years moving forward.<\/p>\n
“We\u2019ve let six properties in the last week so that gives you the idea of how much demand there is and they go from a one bedroomed flat all the way up to detached bungalows in villages.<\/p>\n
“Business Wales has been a big help because they have helped me go through all the process of what I needed, helped me fill out the forms, made sure the quotes were correct and then Denbighshire County Council provided the LIF funding.<\/p>\n
“As a result, we\u2019ve been able to do the shop in the way that we\u2019ve wanted.\u00a0 It\u2019s had a full re-wiring; it\u2019s been stripped back to bare brick and it\u2019s been done for the long term which is what we wanted to do.<\/p>\n
“The new office in Rhyl is a big deal to me and we didn’t want to cut corners. I was people to see that we’ve invested our time and money into making something quite special and that\u2019s what we aim to do.”<\/p>\n
