North Wales\u2019 biggest private house-builder Anwyl reported a record turnover of over \u00a350 million for 2015.<\/p>\n
The 16 per cent increase on 2014 is good news for the Ewloe-based firm which recently announced a \u00a340 million construction programme to create 600 homes in North Wales and North West England over the next three years.<\/p>\n
The Anwyl Group\u2019s success has also benefited the wider regional economy with projects estimated to have contributed approximately \u00a3125 million to the North Wales economy. As well as 150 permanent employees, Anwyl also provides work for up to 350 sub-contractors at any one time.<\/p>\n
End of year figures for Anwyl, which began life in Rhyl in 1930 and remains a family business, also show pre-tax profits of more than \u00a34 million which helped cement its place in the top 150 businesses in Wales in 2015.<\/p>\n
House sales for the company, North Wales\u2019s biggest builder of private homes, are up by 22 per cent and their planned starts include major new ventures in Liverpool where they plan to build a 15-storey block of 453 student flats and have a second city centre project in the pipeline for a 16-storey tower for a private residential scheme of 270 flats.<\/p>\n
Director Tom Anwyl said: \u201cThese are very encouraging figures for us but just as important is the impact on North Wales through the jobs we create and the skills training we can provide.<\/p>\n
\u201cConstruction is a key barometer for economic health and as we expand and grow the regional economy is becoming more optimistic about the future.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are very busy across both our divisions, contracting and housebuilding and our order books are looking very healthy well into 2017.<\/p>\n
\u201cOver the next 12 months we will continue to expand with projects across North and Mid Wales and into Cheshire, Shropshire and Liverpool.\u201d<\/p>\n
Anwyl are currently working in Cheshire and Shropshire as well as their traditional heartland of North Wales and their Contracts division has over \u00a325 million of contracts for care homes and other major works in addition to those it is currently engaged on.<\/p>\n
They have also been placed on social housing frameworks for multimillion pound projects in Mid and South Wales and in the North-West, Yorkshire and Humberside.<\/p>\n
In a successful 2015 Anwyl also lifted three UK awards, including Housebuilder of the Year from Housebuilding Magazine, a string of regional awards and was recognised for its commitment to site safety and eco-friendly building.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have spent more than 500 hours across the North West, North and Mid Wales on site safety campaigns, industry and careers talks and supply chain events.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a Construction Ambassador programme and we visit schools and colleges and invite construction skills students to visit our sites as well and we are also working with the Prince\u2019s Trust.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur involvement with the Trust has included giving a number of two-week work placements to young people on the ‘Get into Construction’ programme, right across North Wales.<\/p>\n
